Our Curriculum

At St Ita’s we believe the role of Catholic schools is to nurture faith and to develop the academic, emotional, social and physical wellbeing of our children.

Through this holistic approach we recognise the uniqueness of each individual and encourage the development of their full potential.

We offer a comprehensive curriculum in line with the Victorian Curriculum and our contemporary pedagogy endeavours to meet the demands of 21st Century learners.

Our Curriculum includes:

  • Religious Education
  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Social and Emotional Learning
  • Health and Physical Education
  • Science
  • The Humanities
  • The Arts
  • Design, Creativity and Technology
  • Information and Communications Technology
  • Thinking Processes
  • Communication
  • Personal and Social Learning
  • Language – Japanese

The provision of the school’s curriculum is arranged so that each class has a two-hour literacy block & a one-hour numeracy block each day. The other learning domains such as Religious Education, Science, Humanities, Technology and Health are taught using an inquiry and integrated approach.

By using an inquiry and integrated approach, we are able to provide learning experiences for our children that are not only engaging but also allow for the development of skills such as: problem solving, creative thinking, critical thinking, the generation of new ideas, the ability to analyse and evaluate information and to plan for the future. All these skills will be required by your child in the future, for life in the 21st century.
