    MESSAGES FROM THE PRINCIPAL

    ST ITA’S SCHOOL CONCERT

Last Thursday we finally had the opportunity to conduct our whole school concert “Dance with me in Africa” at the West Gippsland Arts Centre. The concert was an outstanding success with over 1100 people attending both the matinee and night performance. It's fair to say that Mrs. Jenny Adrichem pulled out a show stopper for her final production at St Ita’s.

The thing that really stood out to me was the amount of kids who were nervous and showing signs of anxiety before the show, and the change in confidence once they had the opportunity to perform. It can be a really tough gig for some kids to get up in front of an audience, and our kids absolutely shone on the night.

I’d like to thank all our Grade 6 students for their commitment to the lead roles on the night. You put on a super performance and led the rest of the school by example. The excitement you showed, and the buzz you generated on the night was electric.

To our amazing St Ita’s staff, you do so much behind the scenes in the lead up to our concert. From daily practice, to sourcing costumes and props, building the confidence of children and walking the walk with your Grade's. Well done to all of you!

Thank you Mrs. Adrichem for sharing your passion for the Arts in your time at St Ita’s. You’ve been such a positive influence on so many of our kids. We have so many kids in our school who thrive on the opportunity to perform and we have been blessed to have you as a role model.

When I first started at St Ita’s I was forewarned about the annual school concert. It was a huge event, almost Spielberg like in its production and this year didn’t disappoint.

And finally, to you the parents. Thank you for being so patient and offering your support, encouragement and kind words over the Covid journey. It’s been tough and we’ve had to work through challenging times where the goal posts move daily. The up side has been that I truly believe it’s built resilience across our learning community.

Thank you to everyone for an amazing team effort.

NO TURNING TRAFFIC TO ENTER THE ADMIN DROP OFF AND PICK UP

A reminder to all parents and guardians, to please avoid making right hand turns into the school admin drop off and pick up area during the peak morning and afternoon drop off and pick up times.

If you are travelling west to east along Victoria St and there is a bank up of cars, please do not make a right-hand turn cutting in front of them. We asked that all west to east traffic go down through the roundabout at the bottom of Victoria St and come back up the hill to join the carline and enter the school making a left hand turn.

CAR LINE DROP OFF AT ADMIN

We have now implemented a change to our car line procedures at the Admin drop off area each morning. We ask that all parents drive to the very front of the designated drop off point (it should allow 3-4 cars to pull up for students to exit their car). Where possible we request that all children exit their cars independently via the left-hand side, if your child must exit via the right-hand door, please place your car in park, exit your car, and assist your child to get out and escort them via the rear of your vehicle to a safe area.

We ask all parents to be patient and respectful during drop off and please adhere to the 10kph speed limit.

    SCHOOL UNIFORM

A number of students are still not wearing the correct school uniform. All St Ita’s students need to be dressed in full winter uniform which includes black leather school shoes not black runners unless they are all black. Students should not be wearing socks with logos. Classroom teachers have been instructed to contact parents in regards to the incorrect uniform being worn.

    COVID-19 OUTBREAK AT ST ITA’S

An important message to all St Ita’s families that there has been a significant outbreak of Covid-19 cases in our school. These cases are mostly in the Grade 2 and Grade 5/6 level. We also have had several staff test positive.

Could I please ask all parents to be super vigilant and make sure that if their children are presenting any signs of COVID-19 they are kept home.  This current outbreak has the potential to have a serious impact on both the health and the learning of all in our community.

We thank you for your ongoing support as we work through these challenging times.
