UPDATED ADVICE IN RELATION TO PAKENHAM SPRINGS PRIMARY SCHOOL

The Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Limited (DOSCEL) has received the advice today from the Department of Education and Training (DET) in relation to Pakenham Springs Primary School.

Pakenham Springs Primary School continues to be closed to allow time for the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to carry out contact tracing to identify any staff and students who have been in contact with the confirmed case to deep clean the school site.

  • DHHS will identify and notify any persons identified as having been in close contact with the person who has tested positive to coronavirus (COVID-19).
  • There is no need for students or staff to be tested for coronavirus (COVID-19) unless they are advised to do so by DHHS.
  • There is no need for members of a household to self-isolate, unless identified as a close contact of a confirmed case of coronavirus (COVID-19) or advised to do so by DHHS.

DHHS defines close contact as someone who has either:

  • had at least 15 minutes of face-to-face contact with a confirmed case of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
  • shared a closed space for more than two hours with someone who is a confirmed case.

Unless you have a student or staff member in one of the two above categories, you do not need to take further action.

There is also no requirement for people living with staff or students of Pakenham Springs Primary School to remain at home, unless they are unwell or displaying symptoms, in which case they should be tested.

It is also important that we all continue to monitor our own and the health of our children.

HAVE YOUR SAY ON REMOTE AND FLEXIBLE LEARNING

remote_learning_survey.png

All schools in the Diocese of Sale have now resumed onsite schooling and Remote Schooling has ceased.

The Victorian State Government has announced a community consultation opportunity regarding Remote Schooling through an online Survey. The Survey is available for completion until 3 July 2020.

Your feedback is sought to understand what lessons were learned during Remote Schooling and the challenges or opportunities to consider for strengthening the future of school education in Victoria.

As a parent / guardian / carer of a student in the Diocese of Sale, you are encouraged to complete this Survey, anonymously if you wish, before 3 July 2020.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

Since returning to full time school it has been noticed that a number of students have been attending school out of uniform. St Ita’s has a school uniform policy and the expectation is that all students attend school in the correct school uniform. I have asked all class teachers to alert their students of the correct school uniform for the winter terms and the expectations around being at school in correct school uniform.

If you child is out of school uniform, could I please ask that you send a note to your child’s teacher explaining your situation or reason. Attached below is the winter uniform for students to be worn during Term 2 & Term 3.

Please remember to clearly label all clothing and check regularly that the name can be easily read. Teachers cannot identify unmarked clothing, which is often mislaid or wrongly claimed by other children. Please check your child has their own items at the end of each week. Permanent markers wear off, so items must be relabelled regularly or we recommend iron-on labels.
Where property is marked clearly it will be returned to the owner. Should marking be indistinct or absent, property will be placed in the lost property cupboard, located in the foyer of the Administration Office. We currently have many un-named school jumpers in the lost property cupboard. Click here for Beleza Uniform shop new opening hours.

CAR-LINE VICTORIA ST ENTRY

no_right_turn.jpg

Parents please be advised in the interest of everyone's safety and keeping the road clear, that there is a no right turn into the school entry when using the Victoria St car-line from 8.30am-9am and 3pm-3.45pm. Please proceed down the hill to the roundabout to come back up the hill and turn left only into the school entry. Please do not use the bus zone to do a u-turn or cut into the top of the car line, the bus zone is a clearway and must be kept clear at all times which is why parents leave a gap in this area.
