PHYSICAL EDUCATION NEWS

Physical Education in 2021 has begun with lots of fun and games. The start of each year is an opportunity for the students to participate in a variety of inclusive individual and team based minor games. These games help develop a variety of Fundamental Motor Skills (FMS) and provide an opportunity for the children to work on teamwork, cooperation and sportsmanship.

In their few lessons, Foundation students participated in games without equipment. They have now progressed to using some balls, bean bags, hula hoops and the large parachute.

Grade 1 and 2 students are currently working hard on their kicking and soccer skills, whilst the Grade 3-6’s are preparing for the upcoming Senior Athletics Carnival on Friday 12^th March.

Whilst the 5 day lockdown has made things more difficult as we lost one lesson, all of the main events will be covered in PE prior to the day (Sprint, Hurdles, Long Jump, Shot Put and Discus). For many of the Grade 3 students, this is their first experience of throwing a discus and putting a shot.

SPORT NEWS - Swimming

Congratulations to 17 senior students that qualified to participate in the Division Swimming Carnival today at the Warragul Outdoor Pool against other schools in the West Gippsland area. Everyone swam amazingly and gave it their best with a few ribbons won on the day! Well done to all. Stay tuned to see who has qualified to swim in the Regional Carnival next!
